A. Curriculum
1. The curriculum I chose is the Frog Street Early Childhood Curriculum. This
curriculum uses HeadStart learning outcomes and aligns with federal and Delaware
state preschool standards. Frog Street was created by Dr. Pam Schiller and specializes
in early childhood development and Conscious Discipline method strategies for social
and emotional development. The specific content area that I have chosen is the three-
year-old level, Unit 3. This unit’s objectives focus on the learning being able to sort
, by color, shape, and size. The standards that align with this unit are Headstart
Learning Math Outcomes; FS-1: Forrunner Skills; child demonstrates classification
(2020) and P-Math 9: Child identifies, describes, compares, and composes shapes,
color, and size (2020).

Context:
a. A problem that I wish to address in Unit 3 of the Frog Street curriculum
would be it is lacking the nonacademic skill of cultural competence. I say
thing because it lacks diversity within the lessons.
Input
b. One specific component of the curriculum that addresses the lack of cultural
competence is a story titled, “Coletta’s Cookies.” The characters in the story
“Coletta’s Cookies” are all Caucasian. In my specific community and school,
we have a lot of diverse learners. I would add more stories with more diverse
characters so my non-white preschoolers can have representation within our
