Week 4 Assignment Template: Reflecting on Your Skills, Goals, and
Accomplishments
Part 1: About Me: Reflection on Goals, Strengths, and Areas of Growth
Answer the following questions in your own words to capture how you see yourself in terms of
values, aspirations, key qualities, goals, strengths, and areas of growth:
1. What are your values, motivations, or aspirations? My values as a person are humility,
compassion for others, and selflessness. I am always motivated to improve processes
and find ways to solve problems. I aspire to earn my Business Degree in Healthcare
Administration so that I can become exposed to new parts of the business and gain new
skill sets that are applicable to future career opportunities.
2. What are some of your main personal, academic, and professional goals?
(Make sure to write five or more complete sentences.) My personal goals are always to
be an inspiration to others, master a problematic skill while completing my bachelor’s
degree, and double my income. Due to covid, I haven’t traveled much, so my second
personal goal is to take a five-day cruise to Grand Cayman Island and Ocho Rios for my
birthday this October. My academic goals are to complete my bachelor's degree,
graduate at the top of my class, ask my professor for guidance when needed, set aside
time to study every night, and make the Dean's list. My professional goals align with my
personal and academic goals, as I am always open, ready for new opportunities, and
willing to embrace imperfections by clearly understanding the company’s goals. Some of
the professional goals I have in place for myself are to develop inclusive leadership and
teams, expand my professional network and understand how other departments
function, learn new techniques, and complete my degree.
3. What are some of your strength areas? Think about the top 2–3 skills you would
advertise about yourself, or consider what others come to you for advice about.
One of my greatest strengths is as a problem solver. I can see a situation from different
perspectives. I can get my work done even in the face of difficult obstacles. I also feel my
communication skills are excellent. I am comfortable presenting to senior executives as I
do mediate a conflict between my peers and team members.
4. What are some areas you would like to grow and improve in?
(Make sure to write five or more complete sentences.) Some areas I need improvement
would be patience, not being so quick to move or complete tasks, and understanding

everyone does not receive information or learn the same. Delegate to employees with
the skillset to complete the projects/tasks. I can sharpen my skills and become
knowledgeable by integrating reading into my daily schedule. Take breaks to ensure I am
not overworking myself and to recharge so I can remain focused and work effectively
and efficiently. Ask for feedback as necessary to ensure growth and to be able to
improve and stay on top in efforts to avoid negative feedback.
Part 2: Accomplishment Statements
Accomplishments don’t have to be as large as climbing the top of Mount Everest or starting
your own company. We accomplish many things that have meaning every day. For example,
perhaps you organized volunteers for your school’s food drive or made an extremely profitable
sale. Or, if you’re more advanced in your career, perhaps you’ve received a promotion or special
recognition.
Review the Accomplishment Categories to help you identify two accomplishments from work,
school, volunteering, or other activities and practice communicating them using the formats
below.
Your Two Accomplishment Statements Using Brainstorming Format
Step 1: Write two accomplishment statements using the brainstorming format: Challenge,
Action, Result, and Details, which is explained below.
What was the situation, problem, or requirement?
[Example of response from someone with retail management experience: An
Challenge
increase in customer complaints about the helpfulness of staff.]
What specific actions did you take to resolve or meet the challenge?
[Example: Developed a new training program for staff, got approval from district
Action
manager, and once approved implemented it with a regular review process.]
What benefit was created in specific and measurable terms? (Be sure to tie
Result results to the organization’s goals when possible.)
[Example: After three months, customer complaints decreased.]
Details What clarifying details, such as numbers or percentages, can provide context?
(Consider answering how many, how much, how long, or how often.)
