reasons we need to study the history of the Church of God.

C. In 1896, four men (William Martin, Joe M. Tipton, Elias Milton McNabb, and William Hamby)
influenced by the Holiness Movement began a revival in the Shearer Schoolhouse near Camp Creek,
North Carolina.
Out of this revival William F. Bryant joined the Holiness
believers and began holding Sunday school and prayer meetings. They were soon barred from the
Shearer Schoolhouse and had to build a log church nearby. However, the community was antagonistic
toward the small group of believers and dismantled and burned their log church. Bryant and others
were turned out of their churches. They continued to meet together and soon experienced the baptism
in the Holy Spirit. There were also miracles of divine healing among the believers. - Answer-Identify the
"founding fathers" of the Church of God.
