Natuurlijke beloning
- Beloningssysteem is nodig om activiteiten die nodig zijn voor ons overleven als
positief te ervaren. Eten, drinken, voortplanting etc
- Dit is belangrijk voor ons voortbestaan

Verslaving
- Het beloningssysteem wordt aangezet bij verslaving

Reward hotspot in het brein
- De medial forebrain bundle is de hotspot voor beloning
o Uitlopers van dopamine cellen uit het centrale midbrein en gaan naar limbische
structuren
o Projecteert vooral naar nucelus accumbens
- Nucleus accumbens (NAc) bevat een gebied die gevoelig is voor suiker (positief)

Verschillende soorten drugs
- Drugs werken allemaal volgens een ander mechanisme en grijpen allemaal op een
ander punt aan, uiteindelijk hebben ze allemaal effect op dopamine




Dopamine systeem
- Dopamine systeem reageert ook op pijn, pijn zorgt voor een verlaging van dopamine
- Dopamine kan ook gebruikt worden om iets aan te leren
o Dopamine in de VTA is een leersignaal waar je je gedrag op aanpast (als de
beloning bijvoorbeeld wegvalt)

Social play en alcohol
- Ratten die meer spelen, willen ook meer alcohol
