Body Decomposition:
Fresh, putrefaction, decay, post decay, dry

Algor Mortis: temp change after death in body. Cooling of the body under normal circumstances.
Algor Mortis Formula:
For the first 12 hours, the temp of a human body after death decreases from 98.6( at a rate of
1.5 degrees per hour.) 12-24 hrs decreases to 1 degree per hour.

Time of death:
Physiological time of death: Based on witness accounts
Legal time of death: the time the dead body is found.
Estimated time of death: the time the medical examiner estimates death occurred.

Forensic Pathologists:
Are medical examiners who focus on determining a time and cause of death. Uses body temp.

Forensic Entomology:
The study of how insects play a role in the decomposition of bodies in legal situations. Help
determine a time of death by observing the type of insects and stages of growth. Uses insects.

Forensic Anthropology:
Work with law enforcement agencies and assist in processing skeletal evidence. Uses bones.

Body Farm: research facility where decomposition can be studied in a variety of settings.
First body farm was established by the University of TN in 1971. Bodies come from unclaimed
bodies and donations.
Opposition: Based on religion. Produces health risks to communities surrounding the farms.

4th amendment: protection from unreasonable searches and seizures.

5th amendment: protection of rights to life, liberty and property.

6th amendment: rights of accused persons in criminal case

8th amendment: excessive bail, fines, and punishments forbidden

14th amendment: all persons born or naturalized in the US, are citizens of the US.

Chain of custody: documentation of movement and location of physical evidence from the time
it's obtained till presented in court.
