Whistle refers to ANSWER any sound signalling device that meets annexe III
specifications and can produce the required bursts.

The whistle's "short blast" lasts for - ANSWER 1 second.


Extended length of blast: ANSWER 4–6 seconds

Any vessel that is 12 meters or longer must have a whistle.

ANSWER bell and whistle on a ship 20 meters or more

ANSWER bell, whistle, gong, tone, and sound that are distinct from the bell for
a vessel that is 100 meters or more

Vessels under 12 meters are not required to have sound signaling equipment on
board, but they should have alternative ways to produce sound.

One brief flash or blast—ANSWER I'm changing my direction to starboard.

Two brief flashes or blasts—ANSWER I'm changing my direction to port.

Three brief flash bursts - ANSWER I'm backing up and using astern
propulsion.

Flash duration and interval: ANSWER 1 second and 1 second,
respectively.There must be at least 10 seconds between consecutive signals.
