Peripheral nervous system - ✔️✔️PNS, consists of all the nervous tissue external to
the CNS

Plexus - ✔️✔️An extensive network of axons and, in some cases, neuron cell bodies,
located outside the CNS
Sensory division - ✔️✔️Afferent division. Transmits electrical signals from the sensory
receptors to the CNS, functional subdivision of the PNS
Motor division - ✔️✔️Efferent division. Transmits action potentials from the CNS to
efferent organs, such as muscles and glands, functional subdivision of the PNS
Somatic nervous system - ✔️✔️SNS, controls conscious activities
Autonomic nervous system - ✔️✔️ANS, controls subconscious activities
Sympathetic division - ✔️✔️Subdivision of ANS, most active during physical activity
Parasympathetic division - ✔️✔️Subdivision of ANS, regulates resting functions, such
as digesting food or emptying the urinary bladder
