Explain the concept of a search engine.
A search engine is a piece of software engineering that allows users to quickly discover
information stored on the Internet or a computer system. It works by indexing web pages, videos,
and images. maps and other material and then returning appropriate results in response to user
requests (Turban, 2021). Search engines utilize complicated algorithms to order results according
to relevancy, popularity, and authority.
How has the utilization of mobile technologies impacted search engines?
The use of mobile technology has provided a considerable influence, one of the most
important factors is search engine optimization (SEO) strategies (Drivas, et al, 2020). SEOs are
based on algorithms backed from user searches, use and content planning. With the growing use
of smartphones and tablets for internet surfing, search engines such as Google have updated their
algorithms to promote mobile-friendly websites in search results. This implies that mobile-
friendly websites, with responsive design and fast loading times, are more likely to rank higher
in mobile search results.
Describe how mashups create new benefits and functionality from existing data or info.
Mashups blend diverse data sources, forging new benefits and functions. They integrate disparate
data, offering richer context and personal views. Users can create solutions by combining
datasets and furthering innovation. Mash-ups also streamline workflows and enhance
productivity resulting in more opportunities. Mashups are flexible and scalable, providing agile
methods to accommodate new sources, even as the capacity of data increases (Bonnefoy, 2024).
