Life Satisfaction with Higher Education Being a college student, I wanted to learn more about how my education will impact my life. Sometimes I get discouraged to continue, and reassurance of how life may be after graduating keeps me going. Hopefully, I can reach to others that are feeling the same as I. My audience is enrolled college students that are feeling discouraged, high school students that are thinking about furthering their education, and my instructor. I am trying to persuade my audience on how higher education improves life satisfaction. The topics I will be focusing on are job opportunities, great sense of accomplishment, and personal development skills. Opening Paragraph Hook: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela Thesis: People with a higher education have more life satisfaction because of job opportunities, a greater sense of accomplishment, and more personal development skills. Body Paragraph 1- Job Opportunities With the right qualifications chances of landing a good job becomes higher. Stand out from a pool of applicants. Body Paragraph 2- Sense of Accomplishment Higher education gives you the space to pursue something you have always been passionate about. People with a higher education get a great sense of accomplishment. Body Paragraph 3- Personal Development Skills From all the studying, assignments, and discussions the skills that are developed translates into the workforce. Better communication, self-disciplined, and competence. Body Paragraph 4 (Counter Argument) Some people place a high emphasis on education, but not everyone does. However, they are wrong because “Education is the key to success!” Education gives you those social skills you need to move forward in the world. Imagine being the most knowledgeable in the room but cannot share all of which you know because you have no social skills. You do not know how to interact with the people around you. Education can help you with that. Personally, since I have been enrolled in college, I feel more confident speaking in front of others. The discussion boards at Independence University are truly helpful. I was just telling my family how the discussion boards at school helped me to communicate better. I had problems trying to communicate and I felt rewarded to be able to attend college and work on those social skills. Conclusion I say this to remind you and inform on how people with a higher education have more life satisfaction because of job opportunities, a greater sense of accomplishment, and more personal development skills.

How Higher Education Improves Life Satisfaction

Most of us have been going to school for over 15 years, all in the hope that

education will help us improve our livelihoods. Sometimes, it gets hard with a lot of

assignments waiting for you and hard concepts that we are unable to wrap around our

minds. We ask, is it worth the struggle? Shouldn’t maybe drop college and focus on other

things like talents and entrepreneurial skills? This is further fueled by student loans,

which we are the ones to pay in the end. However, as Mandela argued, “Education is the

most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Honestly, with all the

money and no education, we can destroy the world. We would be having ‘rich fools.’

Several studies and research have indicated that educated people are more satisfied with

life because of job opportunities, a great sense of accomplishment, and personal

development skills.

Having the right qualifications and meeting the requirements increases one’s

chances of securing a job opportunity. A post-secondary certificate, may it be a degree,

masters or Ph.D., equips one with more skills leaves them better prepared to handle more

skillful jobs which offer better pay. According to Paulsen & Perna (2018), in the United

States, education highly determines one’s lifestyle through the salaries they get paid.

High school graduates earn an annual average of $30,000, degree holders $50,000 and

above, while graduates of higher degrees like masters and Ph.D. earn $70,000 and above.

This earning gap is significant, and it remains consistent throughout one’s lifetime.

Additionally, being educated and meeting the requirements makes one stand out from a

pool of applicants, leaving them better placed to secure the advertised position.
