According to the article ‘banishing the clods’, the most global concern is the extent to which
renewable energy can develop without additional grant which emphasises on the economic
part of it. Converting renewable energy into global economy is an intimidating task. For
instance, as much as hydroelectric power generates more power at a cheaper price, it is
hindered by lack of enough space for growth due to the surrounding factors. As a result of
these disadvantages, many opt for nuclear power despite its cost.
Another group of people would consider the two types of renewable energy generation which
are performing well in the resent years. They include energy and wind power. The two have
done a marvellous job since they have grown at a significant percentage which makes them
likable. In other words, cost will drop. Wind power although being cheaper, requires bigger
windmills which are more efficient but costly to put up or construct.
Solar is the most promising. It can function at any scale including the simplest one which is
placed on the rooftop of a house. Solar is not only important for its grant, but it also provides
good competition to natural gas in the sunniest parts of the world including the areas where
fuel is of low cost.
The other better option is Thermal storage which includes use of surplus power to heat or
freeze water and it can also be of help in warming and cooling of houses when required. This
is significantly cheap but not a permanent solution. Also, the stored energy is not easily
moved from one place to another.
