,The GCSE Spanish Foundation Tier Paper 3 Reading exam for June 2024 is
scheduled for Tuesday 4 June 2024 (Morning). This exam tests your ability to
understand written Spanish across a variety of texts. You will be assessed on your
comprehension skills, including your understanding of different types of written
content such as advertisements, letters, brochures, articles, and short narratives.
Overview of the Exam:
The Reading exam is typically 1 hour long and consists of several sections. The
questions will test your ability to understand both general and specific information
from a range of texts. These will include multiple-choice questions, matching tasks,
gap-fill exercises, and short-answer questions.
Structure of the Exam:
1. Section 1: Short Reading Comprehensions
o You will be presented with short texts (e.g., advertisements, letters, or postcards)
followed by a series of multiple-choice or matching questions.
o These questions test your ability to pick out specific information from the text,
such as names, dates, times, and other key details.
o Example Question:
¿A qué hora abre el restaurante? (What time does the restaurant open?)
You will need to choose the correct time from a list of options provided.
2. Section 2: Longer Reading Passages
o This section includes longer texts such as emails, articles, or short stories. You will
be asked to answer a series of questions that require more detailed answers.
o Some questions may ask you to match statements to people, fill in gaps with the
correct word from a list, or answer in full sentences.
o Example Question:
¿Qué hace Laura los fines de semana? (What does Laura do on weekends?)
You will need to give a short, clear answer based on the text.
3. Section 3: Texts with Gaps to Fill
o In this section, you will be given a text with missing words. You will have to fill in
the gaps with the correct word from a given list.
o Example Question:
Mi hermano va al ________ para estudiar. (My brother goes to ________ to
study.)
You would need to choose the correct word from a list of options, such as colegio
(school), cine (cinema), or biblioteca (library).
4. Section 4: True/False/Not Mentioned Questions
o You will read a passage and then answer whether certain statements are true,
false, or if the information is not mentioned in the text.
o Example Question:
El artículo dice que el cine está cerca de la escuela. (The article says that the
cinema is near the school.)
You would answer true or false based on the text.
