A1. Explain the necessary website functionality and micro interactions
needed to meet audience and stakeholder needs.
For the website to meet the audience and stakeholder needs it must be
available and fully functional and responsive across all platforms and all
device sizes. The links included on the site must be functional and link to the
correct information pages. A micro interaction that could be added to the
desktop version of the webpage to help bring the users attention to links
would be a mouse over, or hover, feature that would change the font size
and color when the user moved their mouse over the link. This would
highlight the link they’re selecting and add an additional layer of interaction
and clarity to the links used. The search bar included at the top of the page
should also be functional and allow users to search for the information that
applies to them. Adding a micro interaction in the form of a suggestion data
list dropdown, based on words typed, would help the user find what they’re
looking for much easier. Lastly, the stakeholders have been very clear about
their need to have a contact form for scheduling consultations with their
“Pexperts”. Adding a page with a form to fill out and adding a link to all
pages on the site to that form, would be a must. The form would include a
place to enter all the user information that stakeholders are looking for. This
contact form could include some micro interactions as well. A focus on the
current field being entered is one way to draw the user’s attention to where
they are at in the form. In line validation would also be added to prevent
errors when inputting information into the phone number and email address
fields. One last validation before the form is submitted will highlight input
fields with blanks or errors and provide suggestions for corrections, making
the form-filling process more user-friendly.
A2. Describe the type of content that will be used for one new page based
on one of the new user personas, including how the elements of the
content align directly to the chosen user persona.
A new page called “Fish” will be added to address fish owners and provide
them with information regarding the needs of their different types of fish.
Since fish owners often view the site from their handheld devices, the
website needs to be responsive and adhere to all mobile device
requirements. There will be information regarding the different needs of salt
or freshwater fish and a link for additional information on making the tap
water in your home safe for the owners’ fish.
