a. Introduce, wash hands, ID client (2 identifiers), clean gloves if central,
explain procedure
b. Assess IV site and VS
c. Close roller clamps after taking tubing out of bag
d. Spike: remove caps and insert spike
e. Prime: hang on pole and squeeze drip chamber, release roller clamp and
let fluid drain until bubbles removed, re-clamp and replace cap, load
tubing into pump
f. Scrub hub with alcohol, push in NS flush, then observe and connect fluids
to hub
g. Set pump to ordered rate, label bag (date/initial)
