COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental aspects of law in business. Specifically,
students will learn about the sources of law and methods of litigation in the United States, the laws governing
corporations and other business entities, the bases of liability in contracts and torts, and the role of businesses
in property and agency law.
COURSE EFFECTIVE DATES: June 2023 - Present
PREREQUISITES: No prerequisites; prior completion of Introduction to Business is recommended.
LENGTH OF COURSE: This is a self-paced course. Students may use as much or as little time as needed to
complete the course.
ACE LEARNING EVALUATIONS RECOMMENDATION: In the lower-division baccalaureate category, 3 semester
hours in Business Law (ACE ID: SOPH-0032).
GRADING: This is a pass/fail course. Students must complete 11 Challenges (formative assessments), 4
Milestones (summative assessments), and 1 Touchstone (project-based or written assessment) with an overall
score of 70% or better.
