A detailed explanation of what prokaryotes and eukaryotes are with a full comparison. Created by a graduate Biochemistry student who is now studying Biological Sciences at Cambridge University. This is designed to be used for all levels of learning, from GCSE to university. When learning biology at school, I often found that when some of the topics were too simplified I did not understand the information. Hence, I have created this document to be easy to understand but still fully explain key concepts.

CELL
FATSTYPES
Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells are the two main cell types,
differing in their structure, complexity, and function.

Prokaryotes
Prokaryotes are simple, single-celled organisms that lack
membrane bound organelles. They are found in two major
groups:

Bacteria: The largest group of prokaryotes, found in nea
every environment on Earth (e.g., E.coli).
Archaea: Often thrive in extreme environments such as h
springs (thermophiles) or salty environments (halophiles)

Multicellular Organisms
Multicellular organisms consist of multiple, specialised cells
that perform distinct functions.

Specialisation: Cells differentiate into different types,
each optimised for a particular role.
Organisation: Cells are arranged into tissues, which for
organs and organ systems.
Reproduction: Can reproduce sexually (introducing
genetic diversity) or asexually.

Found in animals, plants, and fungi.
