Tell me about yourself? - I began the post-bacc program in 2019 and have absolutely loved it. I will graduate in December and will be taking the NCLEX in January. I graduated magna cum laude in 2018 with my degree in human nutrition. I originally perused this degree because I am very passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. Through my experiences in this program (studay abroad, medical nutrition courses) my internship at Phoenix Allies for Community Health, and my family members who are nurses, I found that my heart was in nursing. I've worked as a server and bartender since I was 19 and truly enjoy being able to connect with a variety of different people and provide them with amazing service. I've learned a lot about customer service and teamwork in this position.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS (MAYO CLINIC)| QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
VERIFIED SOLUTIONS 100%|GRADE A+|LATEST 2024/2025

Tell me about yourself? - ✔✔I began the post-bacc program in 2019 and have absolutely loved it.

I will graduate in December and will be taking the NCLEX in January.

I graduated magna cum laude in 2018 with my degree in human nutrition. I originally perused this
degree because I am very passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. Through my experiences in this
program (studay abroad, medical nutrition courses) my internship at Phoenix Allies for Community
Health, and my family members who are nurses, I found that my heart was in nursing.

I've worked as a server and bartender since I was 19 and truly enjoy being able to connect with a variety
of different people and provide them with amazing service. I've learned a lot about customer service
and teamwork in this position.

Where do you see yourself five years from now? - ✔✔1.) In five years, I hope to be working as some kind
of critical care nurse either in the ICU or the ED.

2.) I plan to be going back to school, either for my masters in nursing education or nurse anesthetist.

3.) If I am working in critical care, I would like to obtain my CCRN (certified critical care registered nurse).

4.) Throughout the years I'd like to hone in on my leadership skills and work towards becoming charge
nurse

-What do you find rewarding about this job?

-Why do you want to work in this specific department?

-What do you know about our facility's values/beliefs? - ✔✔I find this position rewarding for several
reasons:

- You get to work with patients and their family members who are in a point of their life that is life
changing and requires a lot of emotional support and education (I enjoy providing knowledge and
learning about complex disorders myself). I've been told that my bedside care and ability to connect
with the patients and families is a strength of mine.

- I love the variety of patients that can be seen on med surg and the challenge that comes with no two
days being the same. I know I will learn and see a lot working in med surg and that excits me.

- I would love being a part of a hospital that sets the Gold Standard for care worldwide for the good of
others.

, -Mayo recieves some very complex patients and I want to work with these kinds of patients to be
challanged and to learn.

Why did you decide on a career as a nurse? - ✔✔- My passion for nursing stems from my mom. My
mom is the most caring, hard-working person that I know and she is a Nurse. From a young age, I
wanted to follow in her footsteps to make a difference in people's lives through medicine. Throughout
my undergraduate nutrition degree, I realized that the care I wanted to give patients was from the
nursing perspective. I wanted to know my patients and give them the close care that only a nurse can
provide.

-I am also drawn to the diversity of the nursing profession. There are so many different paths to take in
this career.

- I find a lot of reward in understanding and helping patients, I want to make an impact on peoples lives.

- I've always found joy in helping others and connecting with people.

How do you handle the stress of the job? - ✔✔Self-care is an important value for me. I like to stay
physically, mentally, and spiritually fit. I love lifting weights, spin classes, hiking, reading, and cooking.

While on the job I like to stay well-organized. I believe a skill I possess as a bartender that will help me in
my nursing career is prioritization and cluster care.

I also try to work towards delegating whenever it's appropriate.

Are you comfortable working with other doctors and nurses? - ✔✔I am. In my clinical experiences I've
been able to interact with a variety of different professions and some great doctors. Especially on units
where we were there multiple weeks in a row.

I actually gave updates about my ICU patients to the cardiologist while my nurse was at lunch one time,
and the doctor commended me for keeping up with the patients plan of care and my attention for
detail.

I see the nurses and doctors as teammates working towards a common goal of optimizing the health
and well-being of the patients.

Tell me about a time you worked with a difficult patient? - ✔✔S- during one of my long term care
clinicals we were taking care of an older gentlemen

H- He had a bad attitude towards us and constantly complained about things
