Lungs - ANS- two spongy organs, located in the thoracic cavity enclosed by the diaphragm and rib cage, responsible for respiration mucus - ANS- a slimy substance produced in the nose and throat to moisten and protect them nasal cavity - ANS- the cavity behind the nose and above the roof of the mouth that filters air and moves mucous and inhaled contaminants outward and away form the lungs. Nose (nasal cavity) - ANS- warms, moistens, & filters air as it is inhaled organs of the respiratory system - ANS- Lungs, bronchi, trachea, pharynx, larynx, epiglottis, nose primary bronchi - ANS- Has ring of cartilage to keep pathway open, branches off trachea in a Y shape to take air into lungs respiratory system - ANS- system responsible for taking in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide using the lungs Right Lung - ANS- is on the right side of the body and has three sections upper, middle, and lower. smoking - ANS- chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, and heart disease can be caused by this Trachea - ANS- membranous tube with cartilaginous rings that conveys inhaled air from the larynx to the bronchi.
