Assess Answer Observe and evaluate a resident's condition. Assessment is conducted by the licensed nurse. Controlled Substance Answer A medication that can be addictive or habit forming and must be counted and secured. Nasal Cannula Answer Plastic tubing utilized to deliver oxygen from the supply source (tank) to the resident's nares. Nasogastric Tube Answer A tube that is placed through the nose into the stomach. The QMA may not flush, check placement or instill medications via nasogastric tube. Observation Answer What is seen, heard, smelled or overheard as spoken by the resident. An observation is made by watching attentively. Oximeter Answer Photoelectric device utilized to determine the amount of oxygen in the blood. Pro Re Nata (PRN) Answer Whenever necessary. Vital Signs Answer Temperature, Pulse, respiratory rate and blood pressure. (TPR, BP) Assault and Battery Answer The threat to use force upon another person and the carrying out of the threat.
