ATI Nursing Care Children 1 1. 9 months  Creep her hands and knees at age of 9 months  Crude pincer grasp 2. 10 months  Begin to stand while holding onto furniture at the age of 10 months  The ability to stand holding onto support 3. Toddler a well child visit  It is recommended to start with the least invasive and proceed to the more invasive.  Nurse should initially minimize physical contact with the toddler and then progress form the least traumatic to the most traumatic procedures.  If the child becomes uncooperative, nurse should perform the procedures more quickly. 4. Preschool child well visits and play appropriate toy  Head to toe approach  Plastic stethoscope. Preschool likes to imitate.  Preschool don’t know how to read, a picture book instead  Small piece jigsaw puzzle is not going to work it can frustrate them. 5. Appropriate age play  2 yr. old- Building tower of block 6-7 blocks and draw vertical line and circular strokes.  3 yr. old- riding a tricycle and cutting figures from colored paper  4 yr. old- drawing stick figures 6. MMR and varicella  Can be given during the same visit or at least 1 month apart 7. 12-month-old nutrition  Not to exceed 4-6 oz of juice in children between the ages of 1 and 6 yrs.
