Bechterew

De ziekte van Bechterew (Spondylitis Ankylopoetica) is een vorm van artritis en een auto-immuun
ziekte.

Kenmerken:
- tast in eerste instantie de ruggengraat en begint in SI gewricht
- ontstekingen van facetgewrichten en de ligamenten en pezen rond de facetgewrichten
(gewrichtsontstekeningen)
- gedurende de ziekte gaat het steeds verder omhoog (lumbaal, thoracaal, cervicaal, schouder)
- botwoekeringen
- botwoekeringen in ligamenten
- soms ontsteking aan hartkleppen of ogen




Symptomen:
- ontstekingen  pijn en stijfheid
- botwoekeringen  afnemende ROM
- verbening van gewrichten (fusion)  totale stijfheid, weinig pijn en afgenomen functie – weinig pijn
doordat de ontsteking zo heeft gewoed dat er niks meer overblijft om te ontsteken

- moeite met ademen (costa vertebralis raken ook verbeend – hierdoor zet de thorax moeilijk uit)

Houding:
- lumbale en cervicale lordose wordt steeds minder, algehele kyfose.
