In these types of patient care settings, effective delegation is an important leadership skill that is imperative for all practicing nurses to develop. Delegation is an integral component in the provision of quality nursing care (Walker et al., 2021). While delegating tasks to support personnel such as certified nursing assistants (CNAs) eases the workload of the nurse and allows time for the completion of higher priority nursing interventions, there are still several factors to consider. The following paper will discuss some of these considerations, then apply them to the scenario of delegating obtaining a POC blood glucose result from a patient and conclude with a reflection on the delegation video recording in part 1 of this assignment. Nurses must remain cognizant of the fact that they are held accountable for their decision to delegate the task. Furthermore, although a task may have been delegated to the CNA, the nurse is still responsible for ensuring that the task was completed and for providing feedback to the delegate as appropriate (Vana et al., 2022). Moreover, when delegating tasks to CNAs, nurses must be sure to adhere to the five rights of delegation set forth by the NCSBN. The five rights of delegation are as follows: the right task, the right circumstance, the right person, the right direction and communication and the right supervision and evaluation (Vana et al., 2022)……
