Odorous House Ant These ants have one queen per colony, black head and abdomen with a red thorax. Prefers sweets and insects. Nest in dead wood, such as in old tree limbs, stumps and logs. Often invade picnic or outdoor barbecue areas. Will also produce a foul odor when crushed. Velvety Tree Ant This small ant, at 1/32" long and yellow to light brown color, is known to eats fats, proteins, sweets ant larvae from other ant nests. It can be found nesting outdoors in soil or under rocks or decaying wood, indoors behind wallboards or baseboards Thief Ant This 1/16" long ant that is yellow or honey-colored to orange is known to eat fats, proteins, and sweets and can be found in wall or cabinet voids, behind baseboards or insulation, or outdoors in debris. Very difficult to control and have ten and thousands or hundreds of thousands in their colony, improper treatment may cause them to bud (split) and make sub colonies making it harder to eradicate them. Pharaoh Ant This ant, whose workers vary from 1/16" to 1/5" long, reddish with a dark brown abdomen nests in mounds with multiple openings in soil or lawns and sometimes in buildings behind wall voids. They eat sweets and proteins.
