Quality education consists of the following amongst others: • Healthy, safe, caring surroundings that are gender-sensitive offering ample resources and facilities • Healthy learners, well-nourished and ready to participate and learn in partnership with families and communities • Employing relevant curricula and materials for the attainment of basic skills, particularly in literacy, numeracy and life skills • Activities through which trained professional teachers use child-centred approach, innovative technology in well-managed classrooms, applying skilful assessment to facilitate learning • Outcomes that include knowledge, skills and attitudes allied to national educational goals and positive participation in society Physical elements: Quality of school facilities, level of up-keep, ambient noise, indoor air quality and its location within the community. The physical surroundings impacts those learning within its walls shaping all aspects of education. Parents often consider the location and condition of learning environments when assessing school quality. Physical environment denotes the overall design and layout of a given classroom and its learning centers. Well designed, organized spaces, furnishings, and materials to maximize the learning opportunities and the engagement of every child. Range from relatively modern and wellequipped buildings to open-air gathering places.
