Who is a stakeholder? Entities or individuals who can be reasonably expected to be significantly affected by the RO's activities products or services; or whose actions can reasonably be expected to affect the RO's ability to implement its strategies and achieve its objectives. Reporting principles that define report's content? Stakeholder inclusiveness; sustainability context; materiality; completeness Reporting Principles that define report's context? Accuracy; balance; comparability; timeliness; clarity; reliability What is Stakeholder Inclusiveness? The RO shall identify stakeholders and explain how it had responded to their reasonable expectations and concerns What is Sustainability Context? The report shall present the RO's performance in the wider context of sustainability. What is Materiality? Material topics are topics that 1) reflect RO's significant economic, environmental, or social impacts OR 2) substantively influence the assessments and decisions of stakeholders In GRI standards, unless stated otherwise, what does "impact" refer to? The effect an organisation has on the economy, the environment, and/or the society, which can indicate its contribution (positive or negative) to sustainable development. Note 1: impact can be long-term or short-term, direct or indirect, positive or negative, actual or potential, intended or unintended. Note 2: can also be related to consequences for the organisation itself - eg reputation or ability to achieve its objective What is management approach disclosure? Management approach disclosure is the narrative description about how an organisation manages its material topics and their related impacts. Note: Disclosure about an organisation's management approach also provides context for the information reported using topic-specific Standards (series 200, 300 and 400) In GRI, what is the reporting Period? The Reporting Period is the specific time span covered by the information reported. Note: Unless otherwise stated, the GRI standards require information from the RO's chosen period. What is sustainability/ sustainable development? Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Note 1: Encompasses 3 dimensions - econ, env, soc Note 2: refers to broader environmental and societal interests, rather than the interests of specific organisations. What is the reporting principle? The concept that describes the outcomes the report is expected to achieve and that guides decisions made throughout the reporting process around report content or quality. What is a stakeholder? Topic is an economic, environmental or social subject Note 1: In the GRI Standards, topics are grouped according to the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, environmental and social. Note 2: To prepare a report in accordance with the GRI Standards, an organisation is require to report on its material topics. What is a topic boundary? Describes where the impacts occur for a material topic, and the RO's involvement in those impacts. Note: Topic boundaries vary based on topics reported. Core and Comprehensive Note: Option depends on the extent of disclosures included in the report What is Annual total compensation? compensation provided over the course of a year. Note: this can include compensation such as salary, bonus, stock awards, option awards, non-equity incentive plan compensation, change in pension value, nonqualified deferred compensation earnings, and all other compensation. What is anti-competitive behaviour? Is action of the organisation or employees that can result in collusion with potential competitors, with the purpose of limiting the effects of market competition. E.g. fixing prices, coordinating bids, creating market/output restrictions, imposing geographical quotas, or allocating customers, suppliers, geographic areas and product lines. What is area of high biodiversity value? Area not subjected to legal protection but recognised for important biodiversity features by a number of govt and non-govt orgs Note 1: Areas of high biodiversity value include habitats that are a priority for conservations which are defined in National Biodiversity Strategies and Actions Plans prepared under the UN Convention Note 2: Several international conservation orgs have identified particular areas of high biodiversity value. What is anti-trust and monopoly practice? Action of the organisation that can result in collusion to erect barriers for entry to the sector; or another collusive action that prevents competition. E.g. includes unfair business practices, abuse of market position, cartels, anti-competitive mergers, and price-fixing What is area protected? Area that is protected from any harm during operational activities, and where the environment remains in its original state with a healthy and functioning ecosystem. What is area restored? Area that was used during or affected by operational activities, and where remediation measures have either restored the environment to its original state, or to a state where it has a healthy and functioning ecosystem. What is base year? Historical datum (such as year) against which a measurement is tracked over time. What is baseline? Starting point for comparisons Note: in the context of energy and emissions reporting, the baseline is the projected energy consumption or emissions in the absence of any reduction activity. What is basic salary? Fixed, minimum amount paid to an employee for performing his or her duties, excluding any additional remuneration, such as payments for overtime working or bonuses. What is benefit? Direct benefit provided in the form of financial contributions, care paid for by the organisation, or the reimbursement of expenses borne by the employee.
