Write a short paragraph in which you explain, in your own words, why we sometimes use the
word “literatures” in the plural form instead of the word “literature” in the singular form. (4)
ANSWER:
We sometimes use the word "literatures" in the plural form instead of the word "literature" in the
singular form because "literature" encompasses a wide range of written works, including novels,
short stories, essays, plays, poems, and more. Each of these categories represents a distinct body of
written works with its own characteristics, themes, and styles. Therefore, when discussing literature
in a broader sense or referring to multiple literary traditions, periods, or forms, it is appropriate to
use the plural form "literatures" to acknowledge this diversity.
