Which Groups of Voters vote for the Republican Party and Why? (15):
Point 1: White Voters:
● F: 2012 → 59% of whites voted for Romney + only 39% supported Obama.
● F: 2010 midterms → 62% of whites votnn for the Republican party.
● WHY? - Southern voters were alienated by the Democratc party due to their sympathy for minority
voters and subsequent identicaton with policies to help their cause.
● Many white voters were hostile to the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s (led by Dems) and blame
policies like affirmative aitions and gay right support as alienatnn them from the party further.
● Southern voters also anree w. ideolony of soiial ionservatism, inc. beliefs in policies that support
sihool prayer and pro-life views → these policies are associated with the Republicans as the
Democrats have identied in their party platorm supports for pro-choice and the oppositon of school
prayer.
● F: 2012 - 73% of white southerner voters, voted for Romney and 76% voted for MiCain in 2008.
● Flair - Less important as a votnn loc due to the rapid rise of ethnic minority votnn nroups, Reanan
