Core parties stayed true to ideas? - Tories Same- Traditional institutions (Crown, Army, Trident), laissez faire, pro-business, law and order Different- Abortion, Gay marriage, David Cameron on the NHS Labour- Old to new Same- Redistribution of wealth, Social mobility, welfare etc. Different- New labour got rid of clause 4, Emphasis on market economy Labour- new labour to Corbyn Same- Clause 4 not reenacted, Investment in economy (funding of infrastructure by National investment bank), Different- doesn't like private sector, nationalisation of rail and post and NHS, Wants to scrap Uni fees rather than lower them FPTP - Yes -Speed and simplicity -Clear winner, strong govt. -Excludes extremists No -Only fast because its not proportional, winner's bonus -Strong govt. is dangerous, tyranny -Everybody deserves to have their voices heard, who defines extremism, Electoral systems produce different outcomes? - FPTP Good -Clear winner -strong link between constituents and MPs
