Red indication, but no harm. Recommended to maintain Nf @ 97+_2% and Nr @ 91-105%. Emergency Equipment - 1 Warning - ANS-(W) Halon vapor decomposition can be hazardous. Sharp acrid odor which is built in warning system and creates noxious irritating atmosphere for those in are. Leave/ventilate area. Skin contact may cause frostbite. Engine Malfunction - Partial or Complete Power Loss - Indications - 1 Warning - 1 Note - ANS-- Left yaw, drop in engine RPM, drop in rotor RPM, low RPM audio alarm, illumination of RP warning light, change in engine noise (W) Do not close throttle. Do not respond to audio/light without confirming with other indications. Normal indications may mean tachometer gen failure or open circuit in warning system. (N) Time permitting during autorotative descent, make "MAYDAY" call, set transponder to EMER, jettison external stores, lock shoulder harness ENGINE FAILURE - Boldface - ANS-- AUTOROTATE, EMER GOV OPNS ENGINE RESTART - INFLIGHT - What type of eng failure malfunction dictates restart? - Depends on: - Time for powered flight to be regained - 1 Warning - ANS-- Fuel control unit malfunction - Altitude and time available, rate of descent, potential landing areas, crew assistance available - Approx 1 minute (W) Gov switch EMER, smooth control input to prevent overspeed, overtemp, compressor stall, engine failure ENGINE COMPRESSOR STALL - Indications - Initial Action - ANS-- Sharp rumble or a series of loud sharp reports, severe engine vibration, rapid rise in EGT depending on severity of surge - COLLECTIVE - REDUCE INLET GUIDE VANE ACTUATOR FAILURE - Indications for CLOSED - Indications for OPEN - ANS-- 35-40% torque available, Ng indications normal, Nf and rotor RPM deterioration, EMER Gov doesnt help but increases possibility for Ng overspeed and engine overtemp. Accomplish shallow approach. - No indications, increased acceleration times, increasingly lower Ng settings DROOP COMPENSATOR FAILURE -Indications - ANS--Engine RPM fluctuates excellsively during application of collective pitch, engine overspeed as collective decrease, underspeed as collective increase
