Tuberculosis Prevalence Among Tribal Population in India

Requirement: The online examination will assess students’ knowledge about epidemiological study designs, basic quantitative analyses in public health, and descriptive and inferential statistics. The online examination will assess unit learning outcomes 2, 4 and 5 (detailed below). Students will prepare a 2000-word essay which allows them to demonstrate their knowledge of a key health issue or problem. Specifically, the essay should discuss how epidemiological methods and approaches have been used to inform on the health issue/problem in question. If epidemiological approaches have helped in the development of changes in interventions, treatment etc, these can also be discussed. The essay will assess unit learning outcomes 1-3 (detailed below). Unit learning outcomes: 1. Apply basic epidemiological methods to challenges in global public health. 2. Select epidemiological study designs most appropriate for specific research questions and their strengths and limitations. 3. Critically analyse epidemiological research evidence and understand the distinction between association and causality. 4. Apply basic statistical analyses to public health data and make the distinction between descriptive and inferential statistics. 5. Explain the concept of confidence intervals as applied to public health statistics and the process of defining and testing statistical hypotheses.
