Nebraska Jail Standards Exam Fingerprints & Searches 5 Types Searches - Metal Detector Hand Scanner Pat Searches Strip Searches Room Searches Pat Searches - Will do in Person PUT GLOVES ON!!!!!!! Men only pat search women in emergencies! Women can do either gender. Strip Searches (Matching on Exam) - -Don't touch the resident during the search. Searches are conducted only by same-gender. -Instruct resident to remove the hat, coat, and any other heavy clothing. -Take any bags, suitcases, or packages for thorough search and inventory later. -Instruct resident to remove all objects from pockets. Put them where the resident cant reach them. Pull pockets out. -Instruct resident to spread finders and rotate hands to show he/she let go of everything. Instruct resident to remove all clothing except underwear, one piece at a time, and hand it to staff for search. -Check all clothing (WEAR GLOVES), check collars, cuffs, waistbands, belt loops, pockets, seams, and linings; look for rips or stitching; unroll socks, turn items inside out if necessary. -Check shoes (heels, toes, sole) -Instruct resident to remove bands, clips, nets, etc., from hair. -Check hair--have residents run his/her fingers through his/her hair, going downwards then backward, or wear gloves and do it yourself. -Check mouth Fingerprints (3 Types) - Arches, loops, and whorls. Investigators also identify unique ridge characteristics in a fingerprint that can be used to identify a suspect or victim. 2 Pla
