GM593: Project Execution with Monitoring and Control Unit 5 Assignment
RESOURCE ALLOCATION AND MANAGEMENT 3 Introduction Projects always need resources. Whether those are tangible deliverables from the project activities or the team members completing those activities, all are important resources to a project. Resource allocation and management includes allotting and reserving all available resources in the most efficient and cost-effective way to achieve project success. It is the responsibility of the project manager to consistently and constantly plan and reassign resources to align with the project plan. Getting Project Back on Schedule At the 11-month mark, the project to install 17 units to track vehicle speeds and create video files was behind schedule as only 8 units were installed. Further, the $2.3 million budget was exhausted. First, Amanda and Josh need to determine what caused the project to get behind schedule. Performing a root cause analysis may help as this determines the underlying reason behind the delay. A fishbone diagram may be used to lay out all potential causes of the delay (Project Management Institute, 2017).
