Grade 11 Physics definitions (IEB)
Grade 11 Physics definitions (IEB) scalar - ANS-A physical quantity that possesses magnitude only. vector - ANS-A physical quantity that possesses both magnitude and direction. resultant force - ANS-The single vector which has the same effect as the original vectors acting together. Normal Force (Fn) - ANS-The perpendicular force exerted by a surface on an object in contact with it. Weight (N) - ANS-The gravitational force that the Earth exerts on an object on or near its surface. Newton's First Law - ANS-An object continues in a state of rest or uniform velocity unless it is acted upon by a net or resultant force. Newton's Second Law - ANS-When a net force is applied to an object of mass, it accelerates in the direction of the net force. The acceleration is directly proportional to the net force and inversely proportional to the mass. Newton's Third Law - ANS-When object A exerts a force on object B, object B simultaneously exerts an opposite direct force of equal magnitude on object A. Inertia - ANS-The property of an object that causes it to resist a change in its state of rest or uniform velocity. potential difference - ANS-The work done per unit charge. current - ANS-The rate of flow of charge. Ohm's Law - ANS-Current through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference across the conductor at a constant temperature....
