Explain the key components required for client workstations to connect to a
network and access network resources (P3) – Completed Moodle blog
Network Hardware components

Network interface controller wired: It is a PC hardware component which connects the PC to A PC
network. Which connects to a token ring or Ethernet, because it is wired and not wireless. It uses
direct access memory interfaces to host the processors.

Network interface controller Wireless: The wireless interface connects to a wireless radio based
computer network, because of it being wireless. It operates on layer 1 and 2 of the ISO model, as
other network interface controllers do.

Twisted pair cable

Unshielded twisted pair is the usual copper telephone wiring used to connect both business and
home computers to telephone companies. Two of the wires are twisted around each other to
prevent electromagnetic induction and repartee conversation through the wires.

Shielded twisted pair is simply just the twisted pair cable, however this time it is shielded with an
extra covering. It aids the transmission and prevents electromagnetic interference escaping or
entering the cable. This type of cabling in used in Ethernet networks, differing from
Unshielded twisted pair cable.

Registered Jack 45, it is the usual data networking interface that attaches twisted pair cables on to it.
Additionally, an 8-pin modular jack. The registered jack 45 is utilized for both Ethernet and type
three token rings networks.

Patch Panel, is a board within a computer or even a switchboard. Additionally, any other device with
specific amount electric sockets, which can be connected in multiple merging's. This can be used in
local area networks and is normally utilised in radios and televisions.

Network internal devices
Switches, it is basically a network switch in telecommunications networks. It brings information that
comes to it, from any of the various input ports, which will then take the information to the
destination it’s planning to go. Additionally, it utilizes packet switching to process, receive, and take
on information the destination it’s planning on going to. Switches connect computers.
Routers, is a hardware device made to receive, analyse and move the packets that come to another
network. Without a router people wouldn't be able send packets to other networks or use the
internet. Routers connect networks.
Wireless application protocol, it is a communicating protocol, which is utilized for wireless data use
in many mobile networks. It increments wireless specification to exchange and make use of
information. Additionally, makes connecting easier giving connectivity between interactive
wireless devices straight away, e.g. mobile phones and the internet.
