• Make sure sermon ideas are clear and well worded. • Plan with the dynamics of oral communication. • Design the presentation to follow the text. • Design the presentation to engage the audience. • Balance development for the whole man. • Plan for the audience and for the occasion. This exercise involves planning the design of your sermon for an oral presentation. This form follows the motivated sequence outline combined with the traditional introduction-body-conclusion format. Introduction Attention Keeping the Proper Perspective and keeping God’s people on task and target. I know that some of you remember when you were younger and you gave your first speech. But you thought that you could not do it because you were so scared about whether everyone would like it or dislike it. But you still trusted in God and you still went out there and gave an excellent speech regardless of what others may think. Although, I overcame my fear and put God first and still gave my speech it showed me that if I put all of my fears, problems, and hardships in God’s hands that I can do anything. Just like the Apostle Paul did with the Philippians he continued to preach and advance the gospel of Christ to God’s people. Despite his circumstances and struggles Paul put his trust in God and continued to stay focus on the task at hand which is to advance the gospel of Christ. Need To preach the gospel of Christ to all believers. Paul’s heroism in the book of Philippians is very much what we need today. There is so much of God’s leaders in this world today that are preaching the gospel for their own benefit but not for Christ’s. Although, the Apostle Paul knew there was a lot of deceitful people that did not like him Phillippi, and had their own ulterior motives he still asked them to keep the Proper Perspective and to still advance the gospel of Christ. The reason is because this is not about our purpose but God’s purpose to advance the gospel of Christ and bring more believers into the church. BRIDGING SENTENCES By advancing the gospel we are keeping the Proper Perspective and staying on task and target. Paul’s letter is just not a typical letter it is a letter to the church. While Paul is imprisoned God’s followers are still standing strong and preaching the gospel. Although, the gospel of Christ is still being preached the church is still filled with people who have ulterior motives. Although, Paul is imprisoned he is still focus and full of contentment and joy because God’s people are still advancing the gospel of Christ. [Subject: Modifier:] God’s people staying on task and target for Christ. Textual Idea: Although, some have their own motives about preaching the gospel of Christ. God’s people who are anchored in him are staying focus and keeping the proper perspective by still spreading the gospel of Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians to advance the gospel of Christ but also to make sure that God’s people don’t lose sight of their purpose and it is Christ he wants them to stay on task and target. Sermon Idea: Just like the Philippians God’s people are faced with circumstances like people who are preaching for their own benefit, however, we cannot let that stop us we must keep the Proper Perspective of Jesus Christ and advance the gospel regardless of what we are going through in our lives, by doing this it should be an example to all of God’s people. Interrogative: How God’s people are staying on task and target to keep the Proper Perspective and advance the gospel of Christ? Transition: God’s people need to make sure that they are doing God’s work by keeping the Proper Perspective to advance the gospel and to glorify Christ. Body Satisfaction The church is fill of people who are not doing what they are supposed to do. However, the word of God is still being reached all around the world. Whatever way the gospel is delivered to his people the gospel of Christ is being preached and by doing that they are keeping the Proper Perspective which is to advance the gospel of Christ. DIVISION 1 STATEMENT To keep the Proper Perspective and to stay on target the Gospel of Christ is to be preached to all of God’s people. Explanation It is important to tell God’s people about how important it is to keep a proper perspective regardless of what the consequences are. Illustration It shows how important it is to God that we keep advancing and preaching the gospel. Argumentation The more we try to keep the Proper Perspective on trying to preach and advance the gospel, then others will be more willing to do the same and accept Christ in their life as well. Application As Christians when we go out and preach the gospel of Christ and show God’s people if they keep the proper perspective and stay focus and on target the gospel of Christ should in return prick their hearts to do help others and do the same. Transition (Div. 1 to Div. 2) If we want to advance the gospel of Christ, we should want to preach the gospel but also show God’s people how to stay focus and on task as well. DIVISION 2 STATEMENT The gospel of Christ needs to keep its Proper Perspective and stay on task and target. Explanation Share the gospel of Christ to all of God’s people. Illustration To preach the gospel it is what God commanded all of his people to do and Christ told his disciples to do also. Argumentation Regardless of their beliefs we must keep the Proper Perspective and that is God commanded for us to witness and spread the gospel to all of his people. Application When God’s leaders go out and preach the gospel, we need to stay on target and task and spread the gospel so that we can convert more followers to Christ. Transition (Div. 2 to Div. 3) To get more followers of Christ the gospel of Christ must be preached to everyone. DIVISION 3 STATEMENT Whether it be for ulterior motives the gospel of Christ will still be preached. It stays on target of what God wants for his people. Explanation The Apostle Paul is letting his followers know that if they have an ulterior motive for advancing the gospel of Christ then it is okay because at least God’s words are ministered to his people. Illustration If a person goes out and use the name of Christ for their own benefit of gaining popularity then let them because they are still ministering and preaching the gospel to God’s people. It is keeping the Proper Perspective in place but also it is staying on task and target of what God wants and that his people are still getting the spiritual food that they need. Argumentation Although, the Apostle Paul went through a lot of hardships, he still ministered to God’s people no matter what struggles that he had faced in the end. He stayed on task and target of what God wanted him to do. Application As Christians how many of us have done something for our own benefit. No matter if it was right or wrong regardless, we should still go out and preach
