Intel PQS Study Guide 2023 101.1 ORM - ANS-Operational Risk Management (ORM) is a decision-making tool used by personnel at all levels to increase operational effectiveness by identifying, assessing, and managing risks. By minimizing risks to acceptable levels, mission accomplishment is more likely. 101.2 5-step ORM Process - ANS-1. Identify the Hazards 2. Assess the Hazards 3. Make Risk Decisions 4. Implement Controls 5. Supervise 101.3 Explain the Risk Assessment Matrix - ANS-A risk assessment matrix can be utilized to quantify threats when dealing with risk management. By creating a table that includes both the probability and severity of any given threat/challenge, you can assign a Risk Assessment Code (RAC) to capture that risk inherent in the task. 101.4 Personnel Security - ANS-Personnel Security Program (PSP) is the system which enables individuals working within the confines of the federal government to initially and continually access classified material and continue assignment in sensitive duties. It ensures that people who are trusted with national security matters are "loyal, reliable, and trustworthy" and creates the procedures for personnel security designations. 101.4 Information Security - ANS-The Information Security Program (ISP) applies "uniform, consistent, and cost-effective policies and procedures to the classification, safeguarding, transmission and destruction of classified information." 101.4 Physical Security - ANS-Intelligence Community Standard 705-1 provides Physical and Technical Security Standards for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). This provides technical planning and design specifications for the creation and utilization of SCIFs. For reference, SKIFs are used wherever classified documents are stored, or individuals are completing sensitive assignments involving the use of classified material. 101.5 Security Classification Levels TOP SECRET - ANS-TOP SECRET: Unauthorized disclosure results in Exceptionally Grave Damage to National Security. • A document's cover and back pages must be marked at the top and bottom with the highest level of classified information found anywhere in the document. • Transported by: i. Direct contact between appropriately cleared personnel ii. Defense Courier Service (DCS), if material qualifies iii. COMSEC system authorized by NSA 101.5 Security Classification Levels SECRET - ANS-SECRET: Unauthorized disclosure results in serious damage to National Security. • CO establishes control appropriate to local environment, employing proper access control, marking, storage, and destruction. • Transport same as TOP SECRET (but only DCS when US control cannot be maintained-doesn't apply to COMSEC), but U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and other controlled carriers also approved in certain situations. 101.5 Security Classification Levels CONFIDENTIAL - ANS-Unauthorized disclosure results in damage to National Security. • Transport same as Secret. 101.5 Security Classification Levels U//FOUO - ANS-A marking applied to unclassified information that meets one or more exemptions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) under Title 5 U.S.C., Section 522 (b) (2) through (9). Information must be unclassified to be designated FOUO. Declassified information may be designated FOUO, if it qualifies under exemptions 5 U.S.C. 522 (b)(2) through (9). Simply put, this information is unclassified, but not to be disseminated freely outside the construct of government operations. 101.5 Security Classification Levels SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION (SCI) - ANS-classified information concerning or derived from intelligence sources, methods, or analytical processes that is required to be handled exclusively within formal access control systems established by the Director of National Intelligence. 101.5 Security Classification Levels SPECIAL ACCESS PROGRAM (SAP) - ANS-a specific class of classified information that imposes safeguarding and access requirements that exceed those normally required for information at the same classification level. 101.5 Security Classification Levels SPECAT - ANS-Special Category messages require strict distribution limitations...
