Assessing Technology, Care Coordination, and Community Resource Considerations
While identifying, assessing, and diagnosing roles are crucial to formulating nursing
interventions, the third phase of prioritizing a problem and implementing care plans requires
nurses' ability to maximize the use of technology to ensure they achieve better patient outcomes
and improve organizational effectiveness. Baccalaureate-prepared nurses' placement as
designers, managers, and coordinators of care means they have to navigate the complexities
posed by the current healthcare environment and utilize the available technology while
leveraging community resource services to provide holistic coordination for patient care. This
phase ensures they can monitor their patient treatment plans, educate them on their conditions,
and connect them with other care providers to help achieve short- and long-term health goals
(Brien et al., 2018). Baccalaureate-prepared nurses play a central role across the entire healthcare
continuum by developing collaborative patient-centered nursing interventions to support,
comfort, and promote the recovery of their patients.
Part 1: Application of Technology, Coordination of Care and Use of Community Resources
Mental health care requires accelerated development and adoption of technology to
ensure the department achieves improved operational efficiency in patient care and an enhanced
experience for both medical professionals and patients. Despite the lack of adequate
infrastructure and resources, there is a need to ensure that healthcare facilities integrate
innovative health technologies to scale up access to mental health services (WHO, 2021).
Therefore, telehealth, mental health smartphone applications, texting applications, and social
media offer a strategy to support mental healthcare by accelerating access everywhere. With
COVID-19 exacerbating existing mental health conditions, mental health crises will amplify and
deepen the inadequacies of mental healthcare structures (Figueroa & Aguilera, 2020). According
