10.1 Inleiding
Voor een normaal functioneren van de lichaamsfysiologie is een pH van 7,4 (7,35-7,45) noodzakelijk. De pH is
direct gerelateerd aan de H +-concentratie, die onder normale omstandigheden zeer laag is. Buffers zorgen
ervoor dat deze concentratie laag blijft, daarin bestaat een homeostase . Dit is een complex gebeuren, voor de
uitleg ervan wordt verwezen naar het boek Fysiologie en Anatomie uit de serie Basiswerken.
