Skill acquisition

The first of my two high level sports performers is Courtney Lawes a professional rugby union player
who plays for Northampton saints making over 250 appearances for his club since his debut in 2007.
Courtney lawes has also represented england at three rugby world cups since 2009 earning 80 caps
for his country and represented the British and Irish Lions on tour to New Zealand and South Africa
establishing a reputation as a hard tackler who plays rugby at a high intensity. Courtney plays in the
flanker position, second or back row and is described as a versatile and exciting player.




Phil Dawson the director of rugby at Northampton has been quoted as saying that Courtney lawes is
not just a ball carrier he can off load which makes him a dual threat, his decision making around
defence, tackle height and when to go for the breakdown or not, defensively and in attack, he can do
things other players can’t. His leadership and experience makes him a world class player.
