DART (DAYS AWAY, RESTRICTED OR TRANSFERRED) DART (DAYS AWAY, RESTRICTED OR TRANSFERRED) Incident rates or DART (days away, restricted or transferred) are safety metrics applied by OSHA in showi ng how many workplace illnesses and injuries led to a transfer to another job, remain away from work, or restricted their work activities as they are not able to do their usual jobs within a calendar year (Olorunnishola, Kidd-Taylor, & Byrd, 2010). Incident rate assists organizations and senior managers in identifying workplace safety matters. Incident or DART rate is a mathematical computation that describes the number of recordable occurrences per onehundred full-time workers that led to lost job transfers, lost workdays, or restricted workdays because of illnesses and injuries of the workplace. DART considers three various metrics. They include the numbers of days a worker is not present due to a job-associated injury or disease, the amount of days a worker is put under job restriction, and the amount of days a worker is transferred to another job he/she could not meet their typical responsibilities (Schuh & Camelio, 2013).
