Summary College stress
Stress affects almost everyone to some degree, and college students are no different. It can be caused by increasing obligations, lack of time management, changes in food and sleeping habits, and a lack of self-care pauses. Exam preparation, competition for admissions or internships, and attempting to learn big quantities of knowledge in short periods are all examples of predicted stressful situations. Taking time to consider the things in your life that may be causing you stress can help reduce and manage stress. Small quantities of stress for brief periods can be beneficial, but chronic stress can be damaging. Knowing how to handle stress professionally as well as productively is an important skill for college students to have. Stress is a major issue for college students, with 45% of students seeking treatment in college due to stress and anxiety and sadness being the leading causes. To manage and reduce stress, it is important to manage time, partake in leisure activities, prepare for the worst-case situation, and practice self-care and self-compassion. Additionally, students are concerned about their financial situation, such as how they would pay for classes, repay loans, and pay for housing and needs while living on a fixed income. Many students leave college with loan debts ranging from $25,000 to $125,000 or more, and working part-time reduces the amount of time available for studies. Financial debt can also cause anxiety about the sort of career they will be able to get after graduation.
