NR-501 Week 1 TD 2Describe your thoughts about one of the historical phases of theory development. Florence Nightingale was the founder of nursing theory; it was her idea of how nursing should be that has guided the thoughts and paved the way for modern nursing today. She was also way before her time considering it took almost 100 years for anyone else to continue the development of these theories and to integrate them into the nursing practice. There are 6 stages in the development of nursing theory: 1. Silent Knowledge – “blind obedience (McEwen and Wills, 2014, pg. 28).” 2. Received Knowledge – learning from others. 3. Subjective Knowledge – internal learning, relying on ones self, no more blind obedience. 4. Procedural Knowledge – using “both separate and connected knowledge (McEwen and Wills, 2014, pg. 28).”
