Question 1.1 The first paragraph connects to the title “Nature returns to the city “ in that the author dates back to a period before there was no environmental protection, A period whereby people could hunt animals as they please. It was during that time that animals were not in the good numbers because of the fact that people hunted them probably for meat and other reasons like using the skin for the manufacturing of different items. The author goes on to mention the resurgence of animals nowadays in big cities and towns because of the emergence of environmental laws. The author applauds good thirty years of environmental stewardship saying it is the one that has made animal numbers to increase and goes on to cite incidents of racoons and lions been seen in big cities as evidence to show that environmental protection has led to the increase of such species nowadays. Question 1.2 The thesis “Nature returns to cities “means that both fauna and flora have resurged in towns and cities. This has been fueled by environmental laws that were put in place to conserve these species. In the text, this is evidenced when the author mentions the negative and positive impacts this has in cities. The author outlines how people have been sickened to death because of the West Nile Virus that at some point was transmitted from birds to mosquitoes and finally to humans. The author goes on to mention that people reconsidering being predators again because of the danger that is attached to their relationship with these animals. Imagine waking up to a lion in your garden, instead of being happy and curious to see more one had to call the emergency line simply because of the danger that comes with it, fear of being attacked and ultimately loss of life. Question 1.3 Something which is not related to a school or formal education is called nonacademic. Nonacademic books, including magazine articles, personal or business letters, novels, websites, text messages, etc., are some examples of nonacademic writing. The features of non-academic writing found in the text are there is Less formality, Casual language and use any point of view
