gothic novels will be discussed: “wuthering heights” written by Emily Brontë & “Jane Eyre”
written by Charlotte Brontë.

To fresh up your memory, we will first discuss what a gothic novel is. So the gothic literature
is a genre that emerged in the romantic period, which lasted from 1798 till 1870.
The term Gothic novel refers to stories with horrific and romantic elements. The Gothic
novel often deals with supernatural events, or events occurring in nature that cannot be
easily explained.
Some examples of elements of gothic novels are:
• Good versus evil
• Supernatural forces
• Touch of romance
• And dark and mysterious atmospheres
What is the novel “Wuthering heights” about?

The novel wuthering heights is written by Emily Jane Bronte, and she is part of the Bronte
family. Later on in this presentation we will give you some more information about this
family.
