attached:
Fear
A personal reason for not reporting crime may be that the victim fears that
the perpetrator may retaliate. The victim might be afraid of the perpetrator
finding out they told the police. The victim might also fear not being believed.
For example, with common assault the victims may not report due to fear that
their perpetrator could retaliate by hurting them again.
Crimes from AC1.1 it applies to:
● Domestic abuse as victims may fear the abuser will retaliate.
● White collar crime as victims may fear getting fired or fear the people in
charge.

For example, with common assault the victims may not report due to fear that
their perpetrator could retaliate by hurting them again. This reason applies to
domestic abuse in the assignment brief. There are claims that the
commissioner is physically and psychologically abusing his current girlfriend.
The girlfriend may not report this abuse as she fears she won't be believed
due to her boyfriend's high status or that he may abuse her more.
A social or cultural reason for not reporting crime may be that the victim
lacks the knowledge surrounding that crime. The victim might not realise a
crime has been committed or don't know how or where to report it. For
example, with hate crime many people aren't aware that abusive messages or
offensive jokes are illegal. This reason applies to domestic abuse in the
assignment brief, because the commissioner is said to abuse his girlfriend.
His girlfriend may not realise psychologically abuse is illegal or not know how
to report the crime therefore it will go unreported.
