Set Task Electronic Template – Unit 11
Task B - Activity 4 Template: Forensic Incident Analysis
Use the section headings below to structure a response for each evidence item.
Evidence item:
Method of acquiring the evidence:
Evidence detail:
Evidence reliability:
Conclusions:
After all the evidence items, provide an overall conclusion.
Evidence item1: Baljinders account
Method of acquiring the evidence: conversation with Baljinder
Evidence detail: Baljinders account is based on recollection and what he has observed
so far. There are a number of devices which happen to be missing from the
company’s assets.
Evidence reliability:
The evidence is not very reliable as this is all based on Baljinder recollection of the
event which may or may not be true. As this is ALL PURLEY based on this memory,
there could be some aspects which are not fully true and he might have forgotten
some details which are crucial to the case.
Conclusion:
The laptop and mobile phone went missing during the May bank holiday weekend. It
sates from the scenario that the lace was empty by 14:00 on Friday lunchtime and
between then and Tuesday morning, all devices went missing. This is a large gap to
work out how the devices went missing and the exact timing would be difficult to
answer. The Samsung Edge S5 phone and the surface pro 3 laptops were charging on
one of the tables near the seating area which means any person would have access to
those devices, this is potentially a security risk. The police were unable to do much as
there was no forced entry. We can see from the scenario that the phone was blocked
and tracked on the 3rd of April to a district named Nairobi but no further reports were
received.
