What will be expected of me when planning and implementing the health
promotion activity?
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and limitations as certain actions have consequences. An
example could be to arrive on time or alert my tutor and supervisor as early if I am
unable to attend, so that they know the reason of the absence. Reading and
following procedures and policies in Capricorn Cottage carefully so policies like
health and safety are issued for self and others, such as knowing where fire exits
are. Completing a given task by my supervisor to the best of my ability or the
importance of seeking for help if needed to avoid issues from getting worse, or
completing work experience log regularly rather than at the end of the experience
so evidence can be collected during each completion of the log. The limitation in
Capricorn Cottage could be that due to the Coronavirus pandemic, safety
measures are required to ensure that the vulnerable people are not at risk. For
example, by being shown how to wash my hand, always use gloves and masks at
all time so that the virus is not easily spread. This will be of expected by the
Capricorn Cottage care home. I will need to maintain an acceptable behaviour as it
is my responsibility to ensure that my learning experience will help me choose the
role that I would like to partake. It could also demonstrate to other care workers
that I am able to keep myself and others safe by knowing where to go when there
is a fire occurrence, for instance.
Responsibilities means reporting incidents and accidents, be honest and apologise
if it was my fault because I have broken the role and responsibility of the care
sector that would have resulted to heavy risks to myself as the action that I have
put could have an impact that perhaps could cause issues like hazards, for
example. The limitation of my role on the other hand, is that I will not be paid as I
am are a learner, and what I am or where I am are allowed to go will be explained
thoroughly by the supervisor. For instance, I will not be able to handle medications
as I have not had the full responsibility yet, or let an elder with dementia to wander
out of the residential care home as they may harm themselves such as wandering

on the streets. Therefore, the demonstration shows that I have the inability to take
responsibilities, so complying to limitation is vital because it will ensure that I am
guided during the work experience as I am learning. Another way could be through
preparation for work experience means that planning carefully is important,
especially on the first day. For instance, to check my travelling arrangements,
ready any introductory information give, where and who to report to, before the first
day. To make an acceptable impression, it is best to leave earlier, allowing rush
hour traffic or public transport delays, parking problems and finding the place and
person to have plenty of time with and not be late because I will then be able to
prove that I am responsible and organised, and also willing to learn.
Expectations for learners on work experience include on how I dress. In the
Capricorn Cottage, it is likely that the dress code may require keeping a minimal to
no jewellery use as this could potentially risk my safety by having it accidentally
caught by equipment or even service users such as children. Having minimal
make-up or wear clothing that are respectable, clean because often the way that I
present myself will be seen as lacking professionalism and not being able to look
smart for the role that I have. With footwear, such as shoes rather than of high-
heels, so that I can walk around comfortably and reduce the likeliness to slip or
injure my foot on a slippery surface or stairs. In some settings, keeping hair tied
back and tidy may be needed, or head coverings to become more acceptable if
they are a part of religion and culture, otherwise, I should then recognise that I am
in a work environment to adapt to the change of setting. This will have a positive
impact on my emotional development as I will become more at ease if I know I
have dressed appropriately, increasing my confidence as people will less likely to
judge me, but also being able to conform with the work setting to demonstrate that
I have the ability to express myself in a way that will help me to do the work
experience with no difficulty.
Handling confidential information by respecting it because it is a responsibility
when I have the access during my work placements in Capricorn Cottage. I may
be asked to sign work experience confidential agreement form by some
organisations, but I must remember not to refer service users in work experience
