Why a scribe - ANSWER-As an aspiring physician assistant (PA), I believe that working as a medical scribe is the best position to familiarize myself with patient care. I want to work as a medical scribe so I can learn more about the field of medicine. All in all, I want to work as a medical scribe to gain familiarity with hospital protocol, develop relationships with physicians and other health professionals, gain essential skills such as teamwork and communication skills, and witness the clinical aspect of patient care and medicine, which is constantly transforming. Future plans - ANSWER-I plan on applying to a physician assistant program next year. Maybe take a year off to obtain HCE and PCE A time I had to deal with conflict or a difficult group member - ANSWER-Working in senior facility in memory care and dealing with a lazy coworker. had 18-20 residents on my floor and only 2 caregivers, usually a float caregiver floating between the 2 floors but they called in. I talked to the person and talked to manager Also had experiences where there were members of a group project werent cooperating. To resolve this , I try to initiate a group discussion where all members go around and contribute an idea and add on to other group members ideas. This was everyone will have a voice and everyone will have contributued. What do you think a scribe does each day? - ANSWER-A medical scribe is literally physicians "right-hand", they are continuously present with the physician, I think a medical scribe is bascially taking notes during a patient interview, writing up the encounter on a medical chart, and assisting with the flow of patients depending on the facility the scribe is working at. They specialize in charting physician-patient encounters and also generate referral letters for them. Scribes save health professionals a lot of time since they are assisting them with documentation, giving health professionals more time to see patients thoroughly and develop positive connections with them. Likewise, depending on the facility, medical scribes may have duties to manage at various times throughout their shift, such as calling consults and obtaining medical records from other facilities.
