AC1.4 Describe media representations of crime
Unit 1: changing awareness of crime
AC1.4: Describe media representations of crime

Example for preview page…
Newspapers: There are two types of newspapers Tabloids and
Broadsheets, they both do report crime positively however they can
exaggerate and miss key details, more likely in tabloids. Tabloids
embellish their stories to gain readers. They are invasive to the victims'
privacy and don’t respect them. They use criminals as a means of
scaremongering this may be through showing shocking images or
including gory descriptions. 30.4% of reports were crime reports in The
Sun. Broadsheets are more formal and unbiased. They are more
respectable to victims. They represent criminals negatively and give
police credit.
An exmaple of a Tabloid crime report would be the murder of Bennylyn
and her two year old daughter. The report includes murder, rape and
the unlawful disposal of a body. The description of the murder is very
detailed and disturbing they did this to highlight the criminals
immorality. They use images of the two victims to show their innocence.
