HC2 Inventory management and risk pooling
Why is inventory required?
 Uncertainty in customer demand
competing products.
 Uncertainty in supplies
Such as quality, quantity, costs, delivery times
 Delivery lead times
 Incentives for larger shipments
Economies of scale in transportation of purchasing

Er zijn drie regels bij demand forecasting:
1. The forecast is always wrong
It is difficult to match supply and demand
2. The longer the forecast horizon, the worse the forecast
It is even more difficult if one needs to predict customer demand for a long period of
time or much ahead of the selling season
3. Aggregate forecasts are more accurate
More difficult to predict customer demand for individual SKUs. Much easier to
predict demand across all SKUs within one product family

multi-period inventory model:
 Single-period inventory model
Hier vindt een one time purchasing decision plaats. Bijvoorbeeld shirts die worden
verkocht bij een specifiek festival of voetbalwedstrijd. Na dit event nemen de shirts
extreem in waarde af.
1. Fixed-order quantity models
2. Fixed-time period models

We
noemen dit de Critical Ration (CR).

Voorbeeld
We
