BRIEF PROFILE OF THE COMMUNITY WHERE THE PROJECT IS BASED The community in which the Ikamva Youth is placed is an urban area. The organisation is also located in Cape Town. The area in which the organisation is placed consists of companies that contribute highly to economic activities and employment opportunities, which has led to people moving to the area in order to live closer to employment opportunities. The community consists of clinics and hospital institutions that are mostly private institutions. The community has two public hospitals and one public clinic that attends to the health of the community. The community has access to clean water and basic services. Regardless of the community having resources, the community is categorised with a high number of people who are homeless, staying and surviving in the streets and high crime rate, which has gotten worse due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It also important to note that the community is facing a risk of high levels of poverty, hunger and a risk of becoming homeless. 1.2.1. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTION GROUP The project is made up of a number of people that make up the action committee, which is also known as the action group (Naples, 2014:45). Firstly, there are four people who are running the project and therefore perceived as project leaders with different responsibilities. These leaders are managed by and report to the executive directors . Secondly, the project consists of a senior leader who has been appointed to ensure that 2 all activities are implemented successfully in the project. Thirdly, the project consists of a fundraising specialist who is responsible for raising funds within the project that are directed towards paying employees, buying equipment, stationary and necessary resources, and implementing different tasks and events. The project also consist of a psychosocial department that is run by two social workers who provide psychosocial services to learners by providing counselling and conducting support groups. Moreover, the team consists of cleaners and caregivers who are responsible for cooking and cleaning.
